How it all began...
In 1993, our CEO, Hans-Erich Gubela, founded IMOS Gubela GmbH – a private institute for micro-optics and structure.
The goal: to miniaturise reflection structures with the lowest performance loss in the reflection. With a highly motivated group, he built up a successful production team. There was soon a large demand for more optical components for industry, science and research.
And today?
Today, we successfully design and produce optical components with our experience. With our own research, development, measuring technology and production. Through our strong team, we are the first contact for large industry customers throughout the world.

Our research partners are, among others, various Fraunhofer Institutes, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB - the Federal Institute of Physics and Metrology) and various technical universities.

We accomplish complex geometries with tools that we develop especially for your product. We also offer economic solutions for small series.
• Series production
Series production is undertaken on the most modern production systems. Our highly qualified employees ensure the quality standards in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

As your optics partner, we are happy to take on the logistics and deliver your product on time exactly where you need it.

Demonstrating the Highest Level of Process Reliability
ISO 13485 is an internationally recognized standard for the medical device industry. Its stringent requirements and global acceptance demand a high level of process stability. Particular emphasis is placed on product safety, traceability, risk minimization, and the ability to consistently manufacture products of the highest quality. The requirements of ISO 13485 go significantly beyond those of ISO 9001. Implementing and maintaining this standard within our company therefore provides substantial added value for our customers.

The compliance documentation we provide supports our customers in meeting their own regulatory obligations.
Energy Management System Certified to ISO 50001:2018
Strengthening International Competitiveness
IMOS has continuously pursued significant energy savings over recent years. These efforts have led to numerous additional initiatives, including measures that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and have become an integral part of our climate policy. Since November 2023, we have maintained a verified Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF), and since 2025, we have achieved carbon neutrality in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Furthermore, IMOS has committed to reducing its CO₂ emissions by 40% by 2030, using 2021 as the baseline year, while implementing appropriate measures to support Germany's national objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2045. Our systematic energy management system certified to ISO 50001 supports our goals of improving energy efficiency and further strengthens our international competitiveness.
